Agnes Zawadzki wore this dress for her 2012 long program to the iconic, ‘Rhapsody in Blue’. The classical style of this music, mixed with jazz elements, has made this piece a favorite with skaters since Gershwin composed it in 1924.
The choreography for this program was amazing, and we both felt the dress had to be a creation that went beyond just ‘another dress for a jazzy piece of music.’ Agnes wanted a darker color for this music, and since this is a classical ‘blue’ choice, we decided that navy would be perfect.
This dress incorporated a striking stoning pattern of lines that covered the front and back of the dress and a stoned wrist treatment. I decided at the last minute to insert the darker meridian blue stones to add some depth to the design. It turned out to be a good decision – the dress looked fabulous on Agnes, earning her praise from the judges and her fans.
